Cows Could Be Had, But Really Man, Don’t

Sweet Baby Jesus in a manger Venezuela has BANNED THE SIMPSONS to PROTECT KIDS then and REPLACED it with BAYWATCH!

I think we can safely report that Venezuela has finally beat out Japan as the country we like to laugh at with no, at so much that editors no longer require fact checking when urban legends are brought to their desk. And this story going around today is going to be Venezuela’s Horney Salaryman Buys Dirty Schoolgirl Panties from Nagoya Vending Machine. Only of course that one was actually true. Wait, what? More after the jump.

Yes Bura Sera is alive and well in Japan, and it’s weird and funny and totally unrelated the matter at hand so please don’t be so distractible, ok?

Anyway read the following two story intros from the Associated Press and Reuters.

AP: A Venezuelan TV channel is no longer showing "The Simpsons" because a government agency says it may be inappropriate for children.

Reuters: Venezuela has forced U.S. cartoon "The Simpsons" off its airwaves, calling the show a potentially bad influence on children, and filled its morning slot with reruns of the beach-and-bikini show "Baywatch."

Can you spot the difference? Yes the first one attributes the decision to a “channel” while the second blames “Venezuela.” Small dif, dingus. Apparently the agency that oversees the public airwaves had received some complaints that the show was inappropriate for children, and would need to be shown outside of morning “children’s hours.” The TV station reacted by pulling the show off the air entirely, and replacing it with the lame brained tittifest just in time to scratch off their press release to the international media. But the press can’t be fooled that easily, right? Haha here’s a few other leads from today’s papers:

San Francisco Chronicle: "The Simpsons" has been banned in Venezuela by President Hugo Chavez, because the animated TV show is "unsuitable for children."
Nice touch with the Chavez reference, though!
TMZ: Chavez Venezuela has yanked "The Simpsons" off the air, claiming it may be inappropriate for children. Aye carumba! Replacing the Simpson family - "Baywatch Hawaii" - a wholesome show where half naked bodyguards strut their enhanced ta-tas on the beach.
Ok that’s just hedging, but we’re a big fan of the strikethrough function so I won’t complain too much.

Glasgow Daily Record:
Telly chiefs in Venezuela have taken The Simpsons off the air amid claims it is inappropriate for children. Baywatch Hawaii - with its bikini-clad babes - has replaced the cartoon about the dysfunctional family headed by hapless Homer.
Et tu, Scotland?

A reader even reported that Hardball goofball Chris Matthews reported the story under the banner “Hugo Vs. Homer?” Of course, Matthews is also a Miss America judge, so should have reported his conflict of interest with Venezuela. And also he’s a dingus.
