Poll: Hugo Chavez Is 5 Thousand Times More Popular Than Bush

pollgraph.pngHey, do you people like polls? Of course you do! You are conditioned by The Man to gravitate toward meaningless nonsense, which explains the mind boggling success of Truck Nutz and that Alaska governor lady. Anyway this particular poll has to do with Venezuela, so you will enjoy it doubly. Here's one fun fact:

"74.8 % of Venezuelans think that Hugo Chavez has done a good job as President"
Hey that's funny, I read lots of newspapers every day and they never mention that. Anyway if you understand this language, "Spanish," you can check out the full IVAD survey results in flashy full-color PDF. Otherwise we've got the insipid, colorless, text-heavy English translation, after the jump. Your call!

Whoa, I didn't realize Chavez's popularity was that high--nearly 75%! I thought it was 60% or so.

This was 10.10.08. I wonder if it has to do with the Chavez government's forethought in accumulating nearly $40 billion in cash reserves--a strong bulwark against the Bushwhack's financial 9/11--and other wise policies that are helping to insulate Venezuela and its region from the latest "shock and awe" shakedown, such as Venezuela's aid to other South American countries to get them out from under ruinous World Bank/IMF debt, emphasis on local control of development finance (the Bank of the South), encouragement of small business and local manufacturing, low cost oil deals for poor countries, attraction of investment from diverse sources, demanding a higher share of oil profits for Venezuela (in contracts with multinationals), and economic/political integration of the south (ALBA-Bolivarian barter trade group; UNASUR-So. American common market).

The Bushwhacks and their financial dragons are sure to inflict pain on everyone. That's what they do. But that extra 15% of support for Chavez among Venezuelans--on top of his past average of 60% in polls and in several presidential elections--may be some of the middle class finally realizing that his policies have been good for all sectors, not just the poor and the extremely poor.
