We already know that racist golf developers are cool with the coup since it will lower property prices. But how are other American pillars of Honduran society taking it? Some missionary groups are upset because they have had to cancel their delegations:
"When you think of the impact that each one of those teams has to the kingdom of Christ in Honduras, it's just a huge loss for them to lose these teams. The needs are overwhelming and with an unstable situation like this, it only increases the needs."
How will poor Hondurans handle their loss of democracy and civil rights without white people there to soothe them with Jesus? Protesting? That's so kingdom of Earth.
Well, that sentiment is better than these guys'. Here's hoping the TORCH mission group never gets back to Honduras, or anywhere for that matter.

@CID,
Probably because of the "rumor" that a couple divisions refuse to take orders from the golpistas.

Why does the Honduran military suddenly feel the need to issue official communiques denying that they are divided in their loyalties to the new coup government?
From Honduran daily Tiempo:
or roughly
I realize that Hugo Chavez has made statements demanding the Honduran militar disobey the illegal coup government, but why is the Honduran governing military bothered to respond to him?
(Apologies if this is duplicated, I couldn't recall if I had clicked on "Post" or not...)

Nope, it's not just you...that same shit happened up here in Canada, too. The missionaries declared the local natives to be "poor benighted children" and then set about "civilizing" them (and stealing their land for Jeebus), forgetting entirely that those "poor benighted children" had been civilized already, and lived that way sustainably for tens of thousands of years. In fact, if the missionaries really cared as much about learning as they professed to do, they'd have done more of it themselves, and spent far less time arrogantly trying to impose their idea of "learning" on someone else.

Its a shame because there could be some who are truly about doing good .... but in my mind there's that nagging skepticism due to the genocide, conquistador, repression, slavery, and secondary human control freak thing anytime I hear the word "missionary".
Maybe its just me.

For some reason, Rev. Spellgood from The Mosquito Coast comes to mind.

The problem with most religious orgs is they forgot they are supposed to be speaking about the things of god ... instead they concern themselves with the things of men.
