It's A Hat Trick Of Fail, For The Washington Post Editorial Page

jacksondiehl3.jpgGod bless 'em, the Washington Post remains quite devoted to making this insanely bungle coup go well. Today they published their third opinion piece defending the military takeover, bringing the tally to, um, 3-0. They are officially far, far to the right of the Obama administration, every world institution, and every single country in Latin America and Europe, including Silvio freaking Berlusconi.

And for every gasbag pundit out there still making the comical argument that this was somehow a constitutional process, you'll probably want to revisit your talking points, now that the coup government's top military lawyer has acknowledged the whole thing was totally illegal but, in his professional opinion, was like fuck it.

Let's not forget that Jackson Diehl also felt free to write an editorial column in the Washington Post which literally added words not present to a supposed release of laptop files from a Colombian FARC leader all so that he could fraudulently charge that the information proved that Hugo Chavez had given the FARC hundreds of millions of dollars.

So, you know, if you hate Hugo Chavez, and some supposedly released documents from the FARC mention "hundreds", feel free to make up and insert "of millions of dollars" if you feel like it, because, you know, why not?

Former (up until last week) Defense Minister Angel Edmundo Orellana Mercado also pretty effectively shreds the notion of a "Constitutional coup" in a letter he sent to the Honduran Congress denouncing their actions as an un-Constitutional Coup d'Etat.

USA opposing a coup? That's new. USA and Venezuela in a united mission? That would be good. Get those lazyarse soldiers from north and south saying hello
