Hey did you happen to catch the new editorial from Voice of America? The one that "signals a subtle change in policy toward Honduras?" Well it's your lucky Friday, the 13th, because here it is now! Probably the best part is where we (America, in our Voice) talk about an imaginary San Jose Accord that apparently no longer requires the reinstatement of Manuel Zelaya:
The United States' commitment is to the accord and its implementation and to the restoration of democratic constitutional order in Honduras. It provides a pathway to free and fair elections, the outcome of which will be widely accepted both within Honduras and abroad.Hahaha, and by widely accepted we mean, "by Colombia, Israel and maybe a couple random island nations whose debt levels exceed GDP." Anyway "we tried" is the point.

Among the news agencies, Reuters is not bad. They are quite reasonable on Bolivia, their Vzla coverage has also improved.

Oh, FINALLY somebody in the lamestream media reports the actual cause behind that 3-minute shower thing. Most of them just hold it up as one more piece of evidence that the 'Cito is crazy. FINALLY someone mentions El Niño! And the drought! Before, they were just repeating all the oppo crapaganda about him being a tyrant who somehow can't provide enough water for their fucking Jacuzzis or electricity to run the jets.
Why are they always so far behind the curve in Anglocrapagandalandia?

Sometimes, Hugo Chavez reminds me of Zach Galifianakis.
They're both lovable, Chomsky-loving, chubs with great senses of humour:

Cubans had arrived in Venezuela and were preparing to fly specially equipped aircraft above the Orinoco river.
"I'm going in a plane; any cloud that crosses me, I'll zap it so that it rains," Chavez said at a ceremony late on Saturday.

Here is ABN's report on this, citing Daniel Ortega:
Managua 15 Nov.
If what Ortega says is true, then this is rather more serious than simply criticizing the Supreme Court. Although, the Liberal deputy (I think he is a Eurodeputy) is probably a joker with little power, a "diputaducho" as it were :)

The Nicaraguan apology is more interesting. Via Radio Netherlands:
The Nicaraguan government apologized for calling Holland a shitty little country, not for throwing MEP doofus out.
By the way, I don't want to hear one single solitary god-damned word, not one syllable, from people complaining about Ortega throwing this guy out of the country for insulting a Supreme Court ruling if they're the same people cheering on the coup d'etat in Honduras.
I fucking know people who were arrested and thrown out of Latin American countries for even less political involvement. I'm not saying it's right, but, fucking really? You back a fucking coup d'etat for what somebody might do someday in the future after office in reforming the Constitution of Honduras, but you think you ought to be able to come in as a foreign politician and denounce the Supreme Court and government of Nicaragua as behaving criminally?
Really? Fucking, really?
I know, I know, the world is full of hypocritical jackasses, but sometimes the ridiculousness gets too much even by normal standards of jackassitude.

Dutch liberal euro-parliamentarian Hans van Baalen has solved the crisis in Honduras. Thus we are informed by the “leftwing” Volkrant
who covers the activities of this 'free trade', US and Israel friend – now acting for the “International Federation of Liberal Parties”. This rather obscure club of liberal crusaders are momentarily spreading The Word in the Central American region.
First there was news about van Baalen being expelled by Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega for criticizing the country's undemocratic policies. Next day the paper reported that the dutch minister for foreign affairs received an official apology from the Nicaraguan government. So Verhagen says. And we all know we can trust the christian democrats like his party's leader and prime-minister Balkenende (still under investigation for his unique knowledge about Saddam Hussein's WMD's)
And the latest of van Baalen's great achievements is the accord he has brokered between the two rivals Micheletti and Zelaya. Van Baalen proudly announces that Zelaya told him that he is now 'prepared to consider' the election's outcome.
With dutch media, the people in Holland will no doubt be one of the worlds first countries to recognize the forthcoming elections as free and fair. Makes me real proud to be a Dutchman.

President Zelaya writes a letter to President Obama, and says, "Thanks, but no thanks, I will not be returning to office after these elections for any excuse to legitimize the overthrow of a government by force, it's a joke to hold 'elections' under a coup, good job on your State Department officials for making us all look like jackasses, and, hey, what you said at the Summit of the Americas was pretty cool, about how we should judge the USA not for its past actions but for its present, and, um, okay, how about not supporting a coup d'etat here in the present?"

"Gürtel" means belt in German.
Looks like someone got his ass in a sling made from his own belt. LOL!

Here's another funny bit of news, that comes out of an investigation of the "Gürtel" scandal involving the rightwing party in Spain:

Apparently Aznar tried to prop up Irene Saez's candidacy in the 1998 presidential contest.

Yeah, it is like the "Socialist International", the "Christian Democrat International" etc. etc. That Cuban ex-CIA dude Carlos(?) Montaner is part of it. They are a collection of far-right parties that aren't explicitly Nazi. (the "liberal" part is supposedly from their support of free trade)

A hugely important organization that I've never heard of called "Liberal International" (the "world federation of liberal parties") just chose Roberto Micheletti as its vice-president because of, um, his, uh, firm defense of 'democracy', by which we mean that awesome military-backed overthrow of the mere elected government of Honduras.
The LI leader pronounced Micheletti the "Liberator of the Americas", and talked about how stupid and ignorant 'the international community' was and how mistaken the OAS was, democracy, whiskey, sexy, the end.

Aw, how unfortunate: 36,000 pages of documents relating to the cases and trials of drug runners, paramilitaries, and their connections disappeared in Colombia.
Thankfully it was just one of those rogue criminal elements -- the guy who ran the government documents facility.

Hey, this seems like it might be news, even in the U.S., I mean, depending on what Carrie Prejean is doing today.
I'm shocked to find out that USAID funds going to Colombia ends up in the hands of front companies run by the right wing narco-paramilitary death squads.
Those darn rogue criminal elements!
