"Preliminary results broadcast on three national television stations said Mr. Morales, 50, received about 63 percent of the vote, versus the estimated 23 percent secured by his leading rival, the former army captain Manfred Reyes Villa, and comfortably surpassing the 50 percent needed to avoid a runoff election."

That second pic reminds of a funny one Otto shared a long time ago.
It was Evo macking on Bolivian beauty queens...
Duston Larson's got nothing on my man "Stretch"!
[From now on, I will refer to Evo as "Stretch", because that picture is priceless.]

Bolivians were just swept up by his charismatic haircut and totalitarian dance moves, real democracy lost last Thursday when the REAL election was held without the poor people. Don't ask me about where it was held, I have to protect the identity of the true patriots, or what the result actually was because then the totalitarian Evo would know too much!

A little bit tangential, but my usual complaints about Spain being a cesspool, take a look at this:

Who's responsible for this electoral massacre?
This no run-off rampage?
This ballot-box beat down?
This is he:

[Is that the best presidential picture or what?]
:)
Some ear candy...
Perez Hilton claims Evo Morales dedicated this song to Branko Marinkovic:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFHYwi_F3Bk
"That hateration ain’t the business
You been drinkn’ that shit since you came in
Homie don’t trip cause’ you didn’t get chosen
Maybe cause’your neck n’ your wrist ain’t frozen
Stop the madness, the way you livin’
Don’t make that hate a religion"
Call me skeptical, but I think Perez is way off.
1) Our Evo doesn't need an iced-out neck to get the female vote
2) Our Evo isn't capable of that amount of ego :)
Now that VP Alvaro Garcia Linera...I wouldn't put it past him.

This full-page feature from Sunday's FT is extremely fair, if not even slightly fawning over Morales. That's the reason I came here.

just for the pedantic record, the NYT is so way silly in saying that "comfortably surpassing the 50 percent needed to avoid a runoff election" thang
All Evo needed was 40% plus one vote and 10% more than the second place.
But details, yeah?
